                                                                    Concord Garden

Some of us call it "Concord Acres",  although it isn't very large.  It is however,  a well tended plot of land on the front lawn at Temple.  Julie Liebman's expertise,  along with hard work of her son Zachary,  have created a very serious project, which should yield a bomper crop of fresh vegetables for our Food Pantry recipients.  Fourth grade teacher Mike Fixler and Maintenance Supervisor Chet Hoisington have been involved from the beginning,  and 4th grade stundents had the opportunity to get their hands into the dirt and plant.

There is still much to be done however.  The children have spread newspaper mulch to prevent weeds from overtaking the good stuff.  Julie has contructed a fence to keep out the giant ground hog, Shalomo (named by 10th grade because he can often be seen from the classroom window) and friends,  and some enriched soil has been mixed in with the old.

The garden will still need water and weeding and then harvesting too.  Stop in any time to water with the hose or get your hands dirty pulling weeds.

Last summer's harvest was appreciated by all who got to have a fresh cuke or tomato.  This summer we hope to have even more to share.  With many hands helping we will.
